Pearls of the Sound is one of the world’s foremost barbershop choruses – some fifty women from Helsingborg singing a cappella, with our hearts in the four-part barbershop tradition.
We sing without accompaniment – the voices are the whole orchestra. In barbershop the melody is usually carried by the second part, surrounded by three voices that together make the chords ring. It’s an art form that demands sensitivity, precision and a great deal of stage joy – and that combination is what we live for.
Our journey
The chorus was founded in 1987 and has competed since 1988. Since then we have sung our way to the top of the world: gold in Sweet Adelines Harmony Classic in San Antonio 2001, Hawaii 2013 and Las Vegas 2016, and we have twice been named the world’s most entertaining chorus (Most Entertaining Award 2016 and 2022). On the big international stage we are among the very best – most recently fourth in Phoenix 2022 and the final in Columbus 2025.
Behind the results lie hard work and a great love of music. The chorus is led by Anna Rosenberg Adlerstam, director since 2004, together with Rasmus Krigström since 2015. We are part of SingUnited International and compete in the Nordic Light Region.
Rehearsals
